FliteTest Explorer Build Completed
Well, while waiting on Spring to truly arrive (you know…warm days, green grass, flowers, pollen, rag weed achoo!), I picked the next FliteTest plane to build……I proudly present to you…tada, the FT Explorer. Like my last build, I spent considerable time decorating this plane. In doing so, I’ve learned a few new techniques. This plane received some pretty decent paper decals that lay really flat and are smudge proof due to the clear satin fixer I sprayed on them. For example check out the FliteTest Explorer badgeing on the wingtops and the Betty Boop stabilizer girl!
This plane is powered by a 1100kv Turnigy motor with a 9X7 TriBlade Master Airscrew pusher prop. At just under 650grams auw without battery, I believe the power plant chosen will allow for some vertical flight. I chose to build a wing without any dehydrial, so we’ll see how well it can do mild acrobatics! Additionally, all of the electronics and battery fit very nicely within the replaceable nose cone of the plane. We’ll see how well it flies when I maiden it! If things go well, I’ll come back and update this post with a YouTube video of the actual maiden flight….wish me luck!!
